WAKAYA CLUB, FIJI
Wakaya is a privately owned island in Fiji's Lomaiviti Archipelago.
The Wakaya Club & Spa is comprised of ten free-standing waterfront Fijian cottage suites or bures (pronounced boo-rays), including seven private Ocean View Bures, one private Garden View Bure, Governor’s Bure and Ambassador’s Bure. Each bure is a luxurious hideaway located just steps from the Pacific ocean, and is designed to indulge you in the beauty of the island while providing every conceivable comfort.
Each bure offers 1,650 square feet of privacy and serenity, and includes the following:
•Secluded rear garden and two covered outdoor decks
•Bedroom with ample closet space and four-poster king size bed clad in the finest Fili D’Oro 100% cotton sheets from Italy
•Bathroom with oversized soaking tub, two vanities, open-air, lava rock shower and separate W.C. and bidet
•Gracious living room with wet bar, CD player, a collection of CDs and iPod connections
•Cathedral ceilings, woven bamboo wall covering and indigenous yaka timber flooring
•Hunter fans, in addition to air conditioning, throughout
•Tibetan rugs, Asian decorative arts and a selection of your own reading materials
•A double-hammock, strung between coconut palms, just outside the bure
Please note that, by design, Garden and Ocean View Bures are not equipped with televisions or telephones, except for an intercom to contact Reception. Unlimited high-speed Internet access is available in each bure.
In addition to our Garden and Ocean View Bures, we offer two additional bures: the Governor’s Bure, the Ambassador’s Bure and one 3-bedroom Villa - Vale O.
Wakaya was bought in 1973 by David Harrison Gilmour, a gold-mining entrepreneur who has developed the island, building 22 kilometres of roads, a freshwater reservoir, a marina, jetty, village, church, gym, school and a recently upgraded runway. He has also developed the Wakaya Club, an exclusive resort. The club has 10 luxury bungalows with a staff of 300. It also houses a large private villa and has four private beaches.
Wakaya Island is surrounded by a protected coral reef, and the island boasts serene lagoons, majestic cliffs and pristine white sand beaches.
According to Angeleno Magazine “Everyone is a celebrity and no one a tourist on Wakaya”. While the elite Zagat Survey calls Wayaka “the most romantic spot in the world”, mostly in part to their breath-taking rooms. The island features 9 private Fijian Cottages and one amazing villa. The private cottages feature cathedral ceilings, woven bamboo wall coverings, indigenous yaka timber flooring, private gardens complete with a relaxing hammock, Tibetan Rugs, over-sized baths, open-aired lava rock showers, and bidets. These amazing suites are the size of small house, each upwards of 1,600 square feet. The cottages feature amazing views of the island and surrounding ocean, while providing privacy fit for a king.

A tiny dot of an island in the midst of the South Pacific, Wakaya lies in the heart of Fiji, a nation made up of 333 islands located 1,500 miles from the coast of Australia. Approximately five miles by one and a half miles (2,200 acres) in size, it is part of the Lomaiviti Group situated in the Koro Sea due east of Viti Levu (the main island of Fiji). Situated at 17.65° South and 179.02° East, it covers an area of eight square kilometres. It is 18 kilometres from Ovalau, the main island in the Lomaiviti Group.
So far from the commercial and industrial centers of the world, Wakaya boasts one of the purest ecosystems in the world.
Accommodations and Rates
Our nightly rates are based on double occupancy and include “meet and greet” service at Nadi International Airport, guaranteed early morning check-in and late afternoon check-out (which amounts to 2 nights without charge), all meals and beverages (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), unlimited use of the fully stocked mini bar, unlimited wireless Internet access, personal laundry service, two scuba tank dives per person per day (Monday through Saturday only), and unlimited use of all other sporting facilities and equipment including private beach picnics (Monday through Saturday only), golf, tennis, snorkeling, sea kayaking, Fitness Bure, and croquet.

Length of Stay
The Wakaya Club & Spa does not have a minimum stay requirement, but a stay longer than four nights is recommended so that you may fully experience the resort and everything the island has to offer.
Garden View and Ocean View Bures
The Wakaya Club & Spa is comprised of ten free-standing suites or bures: one 1,650 square foot Garden View Bures, seven 1,650 square foot Ocean View Bures, the 2,400 square foot Governor’s Bure and the brand new 4,500 square foot Ambassador’s Bure. All accommodations have a covered deck, secluded rear garden, a living room with bar, king beds and luxuriously appointed bathrooms with private outdoor showers, oversized tubs and separate W.C./bidet. All have spacious closets, air conditioning and ceiling fans. and the Governor’s Bure includes an indoor Jacuzzi tub. Please note that, by design, bures are not equipped with televisions or telephones, except for an intercom to contact Reception.

The Governor’s Bure offers 2,400 square feet of luxury and privacy for those who want a bit more space. This bure has a a living room with bar, king beds and a luxuriously appointed bathroom with a private outdoor shower and an oversized Jacuzzi tub. The Governor's Bure also has a covered deck, a secluded rear garden, spacious closets, air conditioning and ceiling fans.

The newest addition to our Club accommodations is the glamorous 4,500 square foot luxurious ocean front Ambassador’s Bure. This spacious air-conditioned 2 bedroom retreat is designed for a maximum of two couples or four people. It features a secluded, covered, rear Plunge/Water Shiatsu Pool Lanai, separate living room with a full kitchen/dining area for up to six guests, DVD/VCR and stereo system with an iPod connection and surround sound, and wireless Internet. Each of the two bedrooms feature a four-poster king bed, spacious walk-in closet, writing desk, luxuriously appointed bathroom, including two separate vanities, a private outdoor shower, and a generous soaking tub—designed for up to two! In addition to all these attributes, the Ambassador’s Bure has its very own Spa which includes two treatment rooms replete with a relaxation area and a totally private Plunge/Water Shiatsu Pool Lanai.

Our Royal Suite, Vale O, is a 12,000 square foot villa on a 16-acre hilltop estate with stunning panoramic ocean views. This three-bedroom, air-conditioned retreat offers complete privacy and attentive personal service for a maximum of three couples (or six people). The property features a rock-rimmed pool with a waterfall and Jacuzzi, a night-lit tennis court, a Boules court, and its own gym. Vale O guests enjoy the services of a dedicated household staff including a personal chef and an on-call driver. A Vale O vacation also includes full use of all Wakaya Club & Spa facilities. In addition, Vale O has a high speed Internet connection, iPod connection, as well as it’s own telephone and fax numbers.

Items billed separately include domestic air transfers on Air Wakaya, our 2005 Cessna Grand Caravan, Spa treatments, Padi Certification (for scuba diving), all fishing excursions, purchases at The Wakaya Club & Spa boutique, telephone/fax services and postage.
Please note that a 15% Fijian Government VAT (Value Added Tax) is applied to all rates. In addition, a 5% Fiji Government Hotel Turnover Tax is applied to all services except for Air Wakaya transfers. Please note that tax rate is subject to change at any time and will be applied at the Fiji Government’s current rate at the time of travel.
