Wakaya is a privately owned island in Fiji's Lomaiviti Archipelago. The Wakaya Club & Spa is comprised of ten free-standing waterfront Fijian cottage suites or bures (pronounced boo-rays), including seven private Ocean View Bures, one private Garden View Bure, Governor’s Bure and Ambassador’s Bure. Each bure is a luxurious hideaway located just steps from the Pacific ocean, and is designed to indulge you in the beauty of the island while providing every conceivable comfort. Each bure offers 1,650 square feet of privacy and serenity, and includes the following: •Secluded rear garden and two covered outdoor decks •Bedroom with ample closet space and four-poster king size bed clad in the finest Fili D’Oro 100% cotton sheets from Italy •Bathroom with oversized soaking tub, two vanities, open-air, lava rock shower and separate W.C. and bidet •Gracious living room with wet bar, CD player, a collection of CDs and iPod connections •Cathedral ceilings, woven bamboo wall covering and indigenous yaka timber flooring •Hunter fans, in addition to air conditioning, throughout •Tibetan rugs, Asian decorative arts and a selection of your own reading materials •A double-hammock, strung between coconut palms, just outside the bure Please note that, by design, Garden and Ocean View Bures are not equipped with televisions or telephones, except for an intercom to contact Reception. Wakaya was bought in 1973 by David Harrison Gilmour, a gold-mining entrepreneur who has developed the island, building 22 kilometres of roads, a freshwater reservoir, a marina, jetty, village, church, gym, school and a recently upgraded runway. He has also developed the Wakaya Club, an exclusive resort. The club has 10 luxury bungalows with a staff of 300. It also houses a large private villa and has four private beaches.
Wakaya Island is surrounded by a protected coral reef, and the island boasts serene lagoons, majestic cliffs and pristine white sand beaches.

Facilities
According to Angeleno Magazine “Everyone is a celebrity and no one a tourist on Wakaya”. While the elite Zagat Survey calls Wayaka “the most romantic spot in the world”, mostly in part to their breath-taking rooms. The island features 9 private Fijian Cottages and one amazing villa. The private cottages feature cathedral ceilings, woven bamboo wall coverings, indigenous yaka timber flooring, private gardens complete with a relaxing hammock, Tibetan Rugs, over-sized baths, open-aired lava rock showers, and bidets. These amazing suites are the size of small house, each upwards of 1,600 square feet. The cottages feature amazing views of the island and surrounding ocean, while providing privacy fit for a king.

All accommodations have a covered deck, secluded rear garden, a living room with bar, king beds and luxuriously appointed bathrooms with private outdoor showers, oversized tubs and separate W.C./bidet. All have spacious closets, air conditioning and ceiling fans. and the Governor’s Bure includes an indoor Jacuzzi tub. The Governor’s Bure offers 2,400 square feet of luxury and privacy for those who want a bit more space. This bure has a a living room with bar, king beds and a luxuriously appointed bathroom with a private outdoor shower and an oversized Jacuzzi tub. The Governor's Bure also has a covered deck, a secluded rear garden, spacious closets, air conditioning and ceiling fans.

Ambassador’s Bure
The newest addition to our Club accommodations is the glamorous 4,500 square foot luxurious ocean front Ambassador’s Bure. This spacious air-conditioned 2 bedroom retreat is designed for a maximum of two couples or four people. It features a secluded, covered, rear Plunge/Water Shiatsu Pool Lanai, separate living room with a full kitchen/dining area for up to six guests, DVD/VCR and stereo system with an iPod connection and surround sound, and wireless Internet. Each of the two bedrooms feature a four-poster king bed, spacious walk-in closet, writing desk, luxuriously appointed bathroom, including two separate vanities, a private outdoor shower, and a generous soaking tub—designed for up to two! In addition to all these attributes, the Ambassador’s Bure has its very own Spa which includes two treatment rooms replete with a relaxation area and a totally private Plunge/Water Shiatsu Pool Lanai.

Vale O
Our Royal Suite, Vale O, is a 12,000 square foot villa on a 16-acre hilltop estate with stunning panoramic ocean views. This three-bedroom, air-conditioned retreat offers complete privacy and attentive personal service for a maximum of three couples (or six people). The property features a rock-rimmed pool with a waterfall and Jacuzzi, a night-lit tennis court, a Boules court, and its own gym. Vale O guests enjoy the services of a dedicated household staff including a personal chef and an on-call driver. A Vale O vacation also includes full use of all Wakaya Club & Spa facilities. In addition, Vale O has a high speed Internet connection, iPod connection, as well as it’s own telephone and fax numbers.
