MASSETO

A pure Merlot from the Ornellaia estate, from a single selected tiny vineyard, Masseto is unsurprisingly one of Italy's most sought-after and hard to find wines of all.

ORNELLAIA

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is without question one of Italy's blue-chip properties. The gorgeous, sprawling estate is located in Bolgheri in Tuscany's Maremma.  Ornellaia is a Bordeaux-inspired blend consisting principally of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot

SASSICAIA

Sassicaia is the original Super Tuscan. Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta initially made the wine just for consumption on the estate but then put the wine on the market in 1968. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sangiovese is sourced from vineyards lying in the gravelly soil of Bolgheri (the name "Sassicaia" comes from the Italian sasso, for "stone").

SOLAIA

Antinori own a large number of estates throughout Tuscany, of which the most significant are worth considering in detail. Tenuta Tignanello is the jewel in the crown, the estate comprising two vineyards, the 47 ha Tignanello and alongside the 10 ha Solaia. These are vineyards of marl, with areas of shale and chalk, at an altitude of 350 to 450 m. This is the source of the two Super-Tuscans which have been focal points in the Tuscan revolution that has occurred over the latter 20th Century; Tignanello (20% Cabernet, 80% Sangiovese) and Solaia (a mirror image 80% Cabernet and 20% Sangiovese).
